Reading is a great way to pass the time. It is also a great way to relax. But if you’re recovering after LASIK, you probably shouldn’t be doing too much reading, at least not right away.
Many books and magazines are in small print. This small print may cause you eye strain as you recover after LASIK.
Opt for audiobooks, music, and television until your eyes have fully recovered.
Light Exercise Only
Feeling a little stir crazy after LASIK? Get out and enjoy a nice mid-day walk around the neighborhood.
When it comes to exercise during LASIK recovery, you don’t want to overdo it. Many exercises will make you strain your eyes, even if you don’t mean them to. This includes lifting weights and sports.
You may think that cardio like running or biking would be okay, but avoid this as well. Sweating while you’re recovering from LASIK is not a good idea.
Stick to light exercising like walking until your eye doctor tells you otherwise. So by all means, get some air. Stretch your legs. But keep it light.
Limit Your Screen Time
Electronic screens emit what is called “blue light.” This is a type of artificial light UV light.
It can cause eye strain and be harmful to your eyes if you are exposed to too much of it. This is especially true during your LASIK recovery.
Light computer work like checking your email is fine, but do your best to limit your screen time. This will keep your eyes from getting strained.
